Moldy cooking utensils should be discarded rather than cleaned. Mold can produce harmful toxins and spores that can be difficult to completely remove from porous materials like wood or plastic. Even if the visible mold is removed, there may still be microscopic mold spores present, which can pose a health risk if ingested. It's best to err on the side of caution and replace any cooking utensils that have become moldy. **

Dishes like pasta with a homemade tomato sauce, stir-fries with vegetables and protein, and sandwiches with various fillings are great options. Recipes that allow for creativity and customization, such as smoothie bowls or build-your-own tacos, can also be appealing to teenagers. It's important to choose recipes that are age-appropriate and safe for teenagers to prepare on their own. **

Kitchen utensils made of aluminum are generally safe to use. However, prolonged exposure to acidic foods or high heat can cause small amounts of aluminum to leach into the food. While the amount of aluminum that leaches into food is typically minimal and considered safe for most people, individuals with certain health conditions, such as kidney disease, may want to limit their exposure to aluminum. To minimize any potential risk, it is recommended to avoid cooking highly acidic foods for long periods in aluminum cookware and to opt for stainless steel or cast iron utensils for those dishes. **

To keep silverfish away from kitchen utensils, it is important to keep the kitchen clean and free of food crumbs or spills that may attract them. Store utensils in airtight containers or drawers to prevent silverfish from accessing them. Using natural repellents such as cedar blocks or lavender sachets can also help deter silverfish. Additionally, regularly inspect and declutter storage areas to eliminate potential hiding spots for silverfish. **
